In most cases the quality of the iron will not be very good. Those examples which seem to have a good iron plate and superior forging should be considered the work of the Kyo-sukashi school.

4.5 to 5.0 millimeters.

Edge:

Kakumimi koniku.

Design Characteristics:

The two well-known designs are; yodo no mizuguruma (water wheel of Yodo) and single or double peacock covering the major part of the web area. Other designs are plants, flowers and complex openwork designs of different styles.

Comments:

Daigoro tsuba (Kyoto Sukashi tsuba) that emerged after 1700 (Sasano dates 1804) under the patronage of the dealer Daimonjiya Gorobei who started in Kyoto and later moved to Edo.
