"A very rare example of the work of Shuma (H 08816.0). Iron slightly oval plate with sukashi design of swirls of water and cherry blooms, with the reverse a mirror image. It is signed: 'KOGETSUSAI SHUMA'. The name of this artist seems to refer to a court title. He was probably an amateur who worked for his own pleasure, ca. 1800. There is one other example recorded in the Church collection." (Haynes)

7.20cm x 7.50cm x 0.40cm
