"The theme of this tsuba is Dragon and Clouds. An iron plate in mokko shape with details in gold. Dates to Mid Edo period.
The Kumagai tradition was founded by KumagaiYoshiyuki and worked as the official craftsmen for the Higo Clan in Edo. This tradition became popular and flourished based on the Higo Tradition and the use of their own techniques." (Haynes & Long)

Amiya wrote in 1981 the year of the Rooster in July; "It is mumei, but Jingo tsuba, iron, mokko shape, round edges, hitsu ana on both sides, with details in gold. Backside with some moji."

Attributed to the Kumagai Tradition by NBTHK and passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Shinsa on December 24, 2021.
