"Large oval iron plate nicely forged and hammered with excellent patina and color. The hitsu-ana are original to the tsuba. The negative open work (sukashi) is of a matsukawa (pine bark) mon.

This work seems to be of the Muromachi period, ca. 1500-1550." (Long)
