Kanton (1700) Tsuba
 

SURITSUKE: A style of kin (gold) and/or silver inlay (nunome) that has a rubbed or worn appearance. Resembling old brocade, it is a style favored by the Jakushi school.

 
 

Iron sukashi Kanton tsuba in the classic arabesque theme that is particular to the Jakushi school.
Nindomon-karakusa diaper is early pattern of Japanese honeysuckle-vine.
The karakusa-moyo, associated with Buddhist religion, became adopted by the ruling classes of Japan.
This tsuba has been well kept and it's patina is in great original condition.
The Dote Mimi and seppa dai with symmetrical design confirms Eastern China as influence.
Sekigane of copper.
