Kunisuke (1st) Shinto Jo-Saku, Wazamono, Settsu Province. Early Edo period, Kan-ei era. Kunisuke was born in Ise Province. He was a liegeman of Nagato no Kami. After Nagato no Kami's demolition, he moved to Kyoto, were he became a student of Horikawa Kunihiro. "A rare shape for Kunisuke" (nagamaki). |

Blade length: 56.8cm or 22.36inches. Sori: 0.6cm or 0.23inches. Mekugi: one. Width at the Ha-machi: 3.42cm or 1.34inches. Width at Kissaki: 2.89cm or 1.13inches. Kasane: 0.75cm or 0.29inches. Shape: Very wide and thick nagamaki-naoshi style wakizashi with very long kissaki. Bo-hi engraved on sashi-omote side. Hi and Soebi engraved on the sashi-ura side. Ji-tetsu: Ko-itame and Ko-mokume are mixed with many Ji-nie and Chikei attached. Osaka Jigane is very fine. Hamon: Nie-deki, around the ha-machi is suguha changing to gunome midare. An abundance of Ashi appears in the Ha. This blade is very healthy without Kizu or flaws and the Deki is excellant. |
