Ko-Bizen O-Tanto

Old Higo mounts with Koto period fittings.
The piece is a typical tanto and is symbolic of the Sengoku Period turbulence.

Saya and Tsuka are in excellant condition considering their age.



Unknown Hada and Hamon. Hira-Zukuri Sugata with Hira Mune.
The blade is extremely thick, and has yoroidoshi shape.

Torii Sori (Kyo Sori) of .4cm/1.3bu.


Nagasa: 25cm/8sun 2.5bu   Nakago: 7cm/2sun 3.1bu 
The nakago is ubu with either Ha-agari or Iriyamagata jiri.
There is no hagire or fukure to be seen.


Seppa are old Suaka (copper). Tsuka with original Same' and Fuchi/Gashira.





Tsuba is well-tempered and forged Tetsu-ji (iron).
Ohgi (Japanese fans) are engraved on both sides.
The Mimi (rim) is Uchikaeshi, and the shape is Otafuku Mokko-gata.



Habaki is copper with 'scratch' design both sides.

  


Fuchi/Gashira of Shakudo with inlay's of a Sennin.
One Sennin (with large ear lobes) (gashira) has a 'leaf coat over his shoulders,
the other Sennin (fuchi) is holding a fan.
  

 

A polish is necessary for further identification of school/smith.
As the restoration takes place, more pictures will be provided.
