"Pair of shakudo menuki of 'herons over waves'. No inlay except each bird has a gold eye. The walls of the backs are well formed and show the style of the early Waki-Goto school. These would seem to date from the time of the third or fourth generation, Joshin or Kojo, of the main line Goto family school, ca. 1550." (Haynes)
