Reference Only
"Round iron plate with carved and inlaid design of a punt in grasses with mountain and birds above, much in gold inlay. The reverse with more of the same landscape.

Signed on the left side: 'Kato Shigemitsu' with kao. This is H 08346.0. He was born in 1747, and died August 21, 1824. He was a samurai retainer of the Aizu Matsudaira Daimyo. He worked in both soft metals and iron plate and was equally proficient in both.

His work is not common outside of Japan, as he is a favorite of Japanese collectors. This is a classic example of his work." (Haynes)
