PROVENANCE:    Robert E. Haynes $400.00
"Mokko form yamagane (mountain metal) plate Kagamishi tsuba with design of deer and maple branches over water. The surface with dew drops of silver in many areas. It is interesting to note that some areas of the plate were embellished with slight carving after the casting. This work dates from about 1450. The hitsu-ana is original, but the shape has been changed later. This design is not common to Kagamishi works and is rare in the Muromachi period, except as a design on lacquer." (Haynes)
