"Round iron plate tsuba with the web carved with a design of two Ho-o birds (Phoenix). This example is remarkable in the very fine kebori carving and attention to detail. There are two noticable places of iron-on-iron inlay: the top Ho-o birds wing area and the body on the reverse side. The eyes and feet are in gold inlay. In all respects, this is one of the finest examples of this school". (Haynes/Long)
