"Oval iron plate that tapers slightly to the edge. Carved in negative design of three plum blooms. One full-face and two from the side, which are in the same position on the reverse. Signed: 'Masayoshi' H 04842.0, and see: Kasahara Mitsutoshi, Arai Takeshi, Akimoto Shigeo: TSUBAKO - BUSHU ITO HA, Tokyo 1999, page 50, all three signatures, for the work of this artist. Because he worked in the late Edo period, there are many examples of his work in European museums and collections." (Haynes) |
