Return to Tsuba Collective
Provenance:   Robert E. Haynes $500.00
"Brass plate in the shape of a very large sake jar. The mouth of the jar with a "sake taster" inside, with a copper face and silver hands. The surface with well carved details and classic designs of this subject. Signed: 'Shuchuken Masaaki' and kao, H 03812.A. This is an unrecorded artist who must have worked in the late Edo period, ca. 1850. There were many such artists working in Edo for the most part, and who seem to have signed only when they made a major piece such as this or received an order for a piece they were proud of."
