OWARI
|
Provenance: Elliott Long | $2600.00 |
"Presented here is a remarkable Owari sukashi tsuba with a gate on the left, pine on the right, waves and nightime sky with cresent moon. This is representative of the famous shrine in Osaka. This work shows all of the following characteristics of Owari work: hammered finish, squared rim, good quality metal, artistic motif and full oval seppa-dai. The hitsu-ana are well-proportioned. The gentle mood and moist luster of the work is a result of the settled social atmosphere of the Momoyama period." (Haynes & Long) 7.70cm x 7.85cm x 0.55cm |
