"An iron tsuba of six 3-leaf sukashi flower design dating to ca. 1800. The iron is of good quality and hammered to a smooth finish.
The 3-leaf plant is named Threeleaf Arrowhead ("Omodaka") of Alismataceae. It is alternatively called as Shogun leaves ("Shogun-so") or Wining leaves ("Kachigusa") from its three pointed leaf shape, which looks like an arrowhead or a shield. Its design was preferred by Samurai and used for the armor decorations and family crests." (Long)
