SOLD

A robust and well forged Tosho tsuba in maru-gata shape. On close inspection, hammer marks as well as pock marks from age can be observed in the tetsu-ji. This creates a very robust appearance. The work demonstrates access to good quality iron and the proficient skill of its maker. The sukashi is undoughtedly that of a Tachi. The normal round openings under the nakago-ana are simply a udenuki-ana. (Haynes)

Dates to the early Muromachi period.
