TOSHO Hachi Mon Sukashi
|
Provenance: Robert E. Haynes; Elliott D. Long |
$1800.00 |
A robust and well forged Tosho tsuba in maru-gata shape. On close inspection, hammer marks as well as pock marks from age can be observed in the tetsu-ji. Although very dark in color, there are granular martensite particles that stand out on the plate giving it a very glossy appearance. The work demonstrates access to good quality iron and the proficient skill of its maker. The mon sukashi is undoughtedly that of the HACHI family. The large round opening under the nakago-ana is simply a udenuki-ana. (Haynes) 10.40cm x 10.40cm x 0.30cm |
