Mid to late Edo period.

Iron plate tsuba of slight oval shape with hammered surface and negative sukashi of bamboo branch. Both kogai-ana typical of Shoami school. Also gold and silver nunome inlay of very fancy snow flakes. With the design repeated on the reverse side. There are five dewdrops of silver inlay. When dewdrops are used as decoration (usually silver dots, sometimes gold), they are placed so that the total number will be odd and they are grouped with two drops together and the others placed separately. This is an old GOTO masters tradition.
