SAOTOME
|
Provenance: Elliott D. Long | $1200.00 |
"Iron mokko form plate with rim of carved leaves around a surface design of cross-hatched bamboo fencing. Both sides of this Saotome school work display 'rain' drops of brass and silver in ten-zogan. The hitsu-ana is filled with silver 'rain' along with a seki-gane also of silver, which is very rare. A large amount of the original lacquer remains. The well hammered iron, rich patina along with the design, and the use of a silver seki-gane displays very fine workmanship of a high caliber making this a 'First Class' tsuba." (Haynes /Long) |
