"Iron plate of round form. The web with both cut and inlaid spoke design referred to as Amida-sukashi, that is in the style of the Saotome school. The rim area is inlaid in brass wire with repeating designs of seigainami (imbrigated waves) and a chain form, which are the same on each side. The hitsuana is original and is brass wire inlaid. This would seem to be the work of the Saotome school for the plate, and the brass inlay school of Kyoto for the brass. This example dates from ca. 1500 to 1550. It is one of the finest examples of the type so far recorded." (Haynes)
