"Round iron plate tsuba with original kozuka-ana dating to the early Muromachi period. At a later date (ca.1600), the very old shakudo rim cover, the kogai-ana, and the gold inlay of the clouds and dragon were added. The iron of the tsuba shows wear with the inlay sitting on a ridge. The inlay is possibly 20 - 24 carat gold." (Haynes) |
