UMETADA
|
Provenance: Elliott D. Long | NFS |
"An iron (tetsu-ji) tsuba of maru-gata form. The hitsu-ana and seppa area appear raised as does the rim which outlines a mokko form on both faces. A total of three botan (peony) plants with vines, done in flush inlay of gold. The artistic ability and aesthetic impact of this piece displays the dramatic originality of the early Umetada artists. Most likely made by iron plate working artists called Ko-Umetada, who left no signed pieces and worked just before the arrival of Umetada Myoju. " (Long) 7.0cm x 6.7cm x 0.40cm |
