Saotome Tempo Tsuba. The tetsu-ji is decorated with tsuchime (hammer work) and Tembo style 'hot stamps' (Kokuin) which are a Saotome original style used by Hoan, Heianjo, and Shoami schools. There is evidence of the plate being folded which can be seen in the nakago-ana. The iron is of high quality and the surface decoration is very good compared to what is seen in later years. Mid Edo period. With ko-sukashi of openwork design in the upper right quadrant. Maru-gata shape with maru-mimi rim that is hammered over in two distinct designs. |
