"This is a small, antique tachi tsuba (sword guard) in the shape of a mokko (quince blossom) with a cloud and dragon design, made of mountain copper, with two holes for opening the hilt, openwork on all four sides, fine engraving, and a curved rim. It comes in a paulownia wood box. The box is inscribed with "Ashikaga period," but the exact period is unknown. The front features a beautifully rendered cloud and dragon design in fine engraving. The back depicts two beautiful scenes of winter: bamboo that withstands the winter cold and plum blossoms that are the first to bloom. Clouds are also depicted in fine engraving on the rim, showing the meticulous attention to detail." (Long)
