ONIN

Return to Tsuba Collective

Provenance: Robert Haynes Not For Sale
"Presented here is an iron eight flower-shaped (yatsu mokko-gata) Onin tsuba with one hitsu-ana. There is no missing inlay. Unlike the shining gold inlay, the countless dots of astringent brass that match the rust color of the iron make the depth of the era more pronounced. It is an extremely rare gem among Onin tsuba. Dates to the Muromachi period, ca.1450." (Haynes & Long)

8.52cm x 8.52cm x 0.50cm.

Certificate from NBTHK, TOKUBETSU KICHO (green papers) - "Extraordinary Work"
