"This is a large, exquisite tsuba featuring a beautifully crafted design of people showering in the evening, a highly engraved motif, and a colorful inlay on a polished brass base. 'MOTOZANE' (H 06004.0 ) the son of Oyama Genkyo. He was from Mito, Hitachi. He studied under the Nara School in Edo and returned home, where he led the Akagiken school to prosperity. He incorporated styles from the Nara, Hamano, and Yokotani schools. He changed his surname from Oyama to Taizan. He was commonly known as Shin'emon and Jihei. His pen names included Akagiken, Toyosai Genshun, and Togu. His given name was also pronounced "Mototaka." (Long)
