Provenance:   Elliott Long Price On Request
"Signed Kozuka by Goto Mitsuharu (8th generation Kanjo), Edo period, Goto family carving Shakudo Nanako ground, inlaid crest, gold painting.
This item is featured in the book "STUDIES IN KYO GOTO" and I understand that this kozuka was formerly owned by the author. It is a collaborative work by Shigeo Akimoto and Mitsutoshi Kasahara, and I do not know which of them owned it. This piece is by Goto Mitsuharu, the 8th generation of the Kanbei family (the first generation was the second son of the 4th generation Goto head, Mitsujo, whose older brother was Tokunori).
The family crest and the character "壽" (longevity) are beautifully inlaid on a finely detailed shakudo nanako ground." (E. Long)
