"This iron tsuba features a quince-shaped design of shells and seaweed featuring the ancient and rare gilding over brass inlay. There is present hair engraving, a single hitsu filled with shakudo, and comes in a paulownia wood box with inscriptions. It is believed to be one of the earliest Heianjo tsuba designs featuring a beautiful coloring. It is a forged tsuba that produces a high-pitched sound. This is a Muromachi period tsuba with an ancient Heianjo inlay." (Long)
