KATCHUSHI
|
PROVENANCE: Elliott D. Long | SOLD |
"Large circular iron plate nicely forged and hammered with excellent patina and color. There are traces of the original black lacquer. The negative open work (sukashi) is of a Darhma doll, nunome and ?something? else. There is a later addition of a brass fukurin of a twisted rope design. This work seems to be of the Momoyama period, ca. 1600, possibly by the Sendai Katchushi. The inside of the box lid is an attribution by 'Komichi ??'. There is no date noted." (Long) 8.88cm x 8.48cm x 0.35cm (seppa) |
