"A rare box inscription by Kawaguchi Chikara, author of "Tsuba Taikan" and author of many books on Japanese swords. The box inscription is dated 1958 and includes a detailed description of the tsuba, "Iron round shape bamboo Niku carving ears bamboo Niku carving Jin-O, Unsigned Akita Shoami Denbei masterpiece, around the Kan'ei period," as well as "masterpiece."
The tsuba is well-forged jigane with excellent iron flavor and moist skin. It has strong but careful Niku carving Jin-O, and no noticeable scratches or stains." (Long)
