Under Study
Based on current study, this iron tsuba is causing concern.......

Using available and explicit methods of study, it seems to date to early Muromachi period, ca. 1400. This is very concerning since the NBTHK Hozon (2019) states 'Mumei: AKASAKA'.
A great deal more research and study will have to be done. If anyone has a suggestion or thoughts on this piece, please contact me at elliott@shibuiswords.com .
Further facts to consider:
In hand, the iron is very black and not of the SHOAMI school.
The design is of two chidori among the waves.

7.73cm x 7.75cm x 0.63cm
