"Large circular iron plate nicely forged and hammered with excellent patina and color. There are traces of the original black lacquer. The hitsu-ana is original to the tsuba. The negative open work (sukashi) is of a bottle gourd for saki with stopper and carrying cord. This work seems to be of the Muromachi period, ca. 1400-1450."
