"The yamagane is a nice dark reddish brown color which suggests a relatively high amount of copper in the alloy. There is some black lacquer remaining on the surface which highlights the motifs very well in hand. The seppa-dai was altered to fit the tsuba to a smaller nakago but the uneven outline of the large kozuka ana is original to the tsuba and represents water. Bull and boat motif. Attributed to Kagamishi. Ca. Mid Muromachi period (15th century)." (Long) |
