"A round (maru gata) well tempered iron tsuba with positive sukashi design of three millet sprays and negative sukashi design of the Matsudaira mon. All the elements, such as the narrow seppa-dai, tapering off a little on the upper end, the fine line carving (kebori) on the leaves, and the unconventional hitsu-ana agree with the characteristics of the Muromachi Period Akasaka, dating to ca. 1450, which predates the supposed origin of the style. The edge is square with a short curve (kaku mimi koniku) with bold tekkotsu." (Long)
8.0cm x 8.05cm x 0.5cm thick
